I make small scale, finely woven tapestries.

Over the last 6 years my work has been almost completely abstract. I have been working with colour and the simplest of shapes: stripes, bands of colour, circles and dots. Shapes, form, colour which for me can represent big ideas, simple truths - the passage of time, the cyclical, circular nature of things.

Like so many makers, I work listening to Radio 4. It is a comforting presence which paradoxically helps me to focus, to get into and maintain a rhythm. Working with coloured threads is always a pleasure, placing colours side by side, seeing the taut fabric grow slowly.

I graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in the late 80’s and since then have exhibited widely in the UK including Art Textiles#1, The British Tapestry Triennial, Chelsea Crafts Fair and Origin. In 2006 I won the Royal Dublin Society’s award for excellence in weaving.
